Backed by the Zume Promise
A website loading quickly on Zume hosting

Slow websites cost you visitors, customers and a little bit of your patience every time you log in. Fast ones do the opposite. People stick around, they buy things, and Google tends to like them more too.

We’ve put a lot of care into making our platform quick, and we think you’ll notice the difference on day one. If you don’t, just let us know within the first 14 days and we’ll give you your money back.

The difference you can feel

Here’s how a typical WordPress home page tends to load on cheap shared hosting compared with ours. Your own site will have its own numbers, but the shape of it usually looks a lot like this.

The bits under the bonnet

No single thing makes a website fast. It’s good kit, well looked after servers, and leaving each site enough room to breathe, all working together.

High frequency EPYC CPUs

We run AMD EPYC 4005 series processors that boost past 5GHz. PHP and WordPress mostly do their work on a single core at a time, so clock speed matters more than core count, and this is where you actually feel the difference.

LiteSpeed Enterprise

Instead of the older Apache web server, we run LiteSpeed Enterprise across our hosting. It serves pages quicker and is particularly good at handling WordPress traffic under load.

NVMe storage

All our hosting sits on NVMe flash drives. They’re a good bit quicker than standard SSDs, and miles quicker than the spinning disks that some cheaper hosts still use.

A fast, well looked after network

Our servers sit behind 20Gbps uplinks, so traffic gets in and out without ever queuing. We keep a close eye on load too, so even on a busy day your site isn’t the one that slows down.

How much is a slow site actually costing you?

Slow pages quietly cost you visitors and sales. Research from Google, Akamai and Portent shows that conversion rates fall sharply as pages get slower, and more visitors give up before the page even finishes loading.

The figures below come from those studies, applied to a small shop with around 10,000 visitors a month. Your site will have its own numbers, but the pattern tends to look a lot like this. Drag the slider to have a look.

What actually happens when a page loads

A page load is really a chain of little steps, and each one adds to the total time. Use the tabs to see how the two hosts compare stage by stage.

Common questions

How does the guarantee actually work?

Sign up for one of our hosting plans and move your website over (we’ll handle the move for you, free of charge). If within the first 14 days you find your site is slower than it was on your old host, reply to your invoice or open a ticket asking for a refund, and we’ll sort it the same working day.

Does the guarantee apply to every plan?

Yes, it applies to all of our shared hosting and managed WordPress plans. For larger VPS, dedicated or bespoke setups, get in touch first and we’ll talk you through how the guarantee works for those.

Do I have to prove my site was slower before?

No. If you tell us your site was quicker on your old host, we’ll take your word for it and refund you without any back-and-forth.

How do you actually make a site faster?

A combination of things: LiteSpeed Enterprise web servers, NVMe flash storage, a well connected network and keeping our servers from getting overcrowded. We also cache sensibly and keep the software stack up to date.

What if my site is slow because of my theme or plugins?

That’s quite often the case, and moving to faster hosting can only do so much if a plugin is slowing a page down. We’re happy to have a look and suggest things you could change, though we can’t take on full site rebuilds.

Does the migration cost anything?

No. Free migration is included with every hosting plan. If you’re coming from another provider, we’ll handle moving your files, database and emails across before you switch your domain over.

Give us a fortnight.

We’ll move your site across for free. If you don’t find us quicker within 14 days, you’ll get a full refund.
