Hosting that cares for the planet
Climate change is real, so we're doing our part to help. From using only renewable energy sources to power our servers, to planting trees for every new customer, we're committed to making a difference.
Creating a sustainable future
We believe the internet doesn’t have to cost the earth - literally. Our mission is to make web hosting better for the planet without sacrificing the speed and reliability you need. By rethinking how hosting is done, we’re proving that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand.
Right now, the internet is responsible for about 2% of global carbon emissions, rivaling the aviation industry. Data centres alone use more than 200 terawatt-hours of electricity each year, and most of that comes from polluting energy sources. It’s a problem we can’t ignore.
That’s why we’re taking a different approach. We power our services with renewable energy, optimise our systems for efficiency, and make sustainability a priority at every level. Hosting a website shouldn’t leave a heavy footprint - and with us, it doesn’t.

How we're helping

Green Power
Solar Equipped Datacentres
Both our United Kingdom and Netherlands datacentres are powered by solar energy. When our facilities are unable to make full use of the solar generated power, it's sold back into the grid which contributes towards improving the overall energy mix nationwide.

Sustainable Hardware
High Efficiency Hardware
We buy the latest energy-efficient hardware and run high-density Supermicro MicroCloud multi-node servers. This helps to reduce overhead and wasted power by consolidating multiple servers into a single chassis and power supplies.

Energy Efficient
Industry-Leading PUE
Our facilities achieve a Power Usage Efficiency below 1.15, far exceeding the industry average of 1.58. PUE is a measure of how efficiently a datacentre uses its power. A low value of 1.15 means only 15% of the power is used for cooling and other overheads.

Recycling
Refurbished, Where Possible
Where viable, we purchase refurbished and recycled hardware to give it a new lease of life. For example a portion of our backup infrastructure run on reconditioned Dell 740xd systems, and we regularly source Juniper QFX switches from professional refurbishers.

For the Future
Real Trees in the UK
When you buy hosting from us, we plant real trees in the United Kingdom. We have supported the reforestation of Brodoclea in Scotland, as well as various other local projects including peatland restoration and protecting Scotland's rainforest.
